You wouldn’t take me for a exfoliating type of guy would you? Well that’s because I’m not. Well, I wasn’t until earlier this month. A company I never heard of sent me some awesome products to try out. Well, let me tell you a little story.
For a long time, as far as I was concerned a bar of soap was all that was needed in the shower. If you had any other bottles, lotions, or stuff in the shower besides a good loofah and your favorite bar of soap then you’re either a girl or you are married to one.
And when I say favorite bar of soap I mean the one that was on sale, the one that was easiest to reach at the store, or the one you got from that last crappy office party gift basket. Any of those would have done the trick back in the day. I remember I bought one pack of zest soap when I “left home” and it had like 12 or 16 bars in it. That and a bottle of shampoo is all I had for the next few years. Ha.
But things have changed.
I use a shower gel now, and I have a different type of cleaning agents for at three parts of my body. Occasionally I moisturize, thanks to Bill Burr on that one. But I usually just get “whatever works” you know, whatever my wife gets for me or if I see something at the store that I want to try out I’ll get it.
But that has changed too. I recently received a package in the mail that changed how I look at men’s products. The package contained four products that completely changed my perceptions of men’s beauty products. I didn’t even think there was such a category but I was mistaken.
The one thing I have been using the most is the Menaji Face and Body Scrub. I also tried the 911 eye gel.
I didn’t know what the Deep Cleansing Masque was or the Camo Concealer, the little tube you see there that looks like chap-stick. I had to consult with my friend Deepa and she gave me the lowdown on how and when to use these. I haven’t had to or felt like I needed to but for your sake I will in the next few days and report back.
I also tried the 911 Eye Gel and that was pretty cool. It was refreshing. It’s supposed to help you reduced the tired look and feel around your eyes. Like if you have dark eyes from lack of sleep or over activity. Sometimes your eyes get puffy or tired and that is when you would use this gel. I tried it after a couple of all-nighters. It works. It makes me feel like I just washed my face and put some sort of ice pack around my eyes.
These things would have been perfect two years ago during some of the early (and few) sleepless nights watching after Claire when she came home for the first week. When I shower with the gel I feel new, feels like when your mouth feels after the dentist, or like your head feels a day after you get your haircut. Except I feel like this every that I use the scrub now.
For those of you that don’t know, an exfoliating gel contains little gritty particles that help scrub your face or skin. That’s what the “exfoliating” part means. The Face & Body Scrub by Menaji is an exfoliating gel. You can use it to wash your face, or you can use it for your whole body in the shower. When I first tried one of these exfoliating things years ago I felt like I was washing my face with powder dish soap and gel. I didn’t use any of it again after that until now.
Now that I understand it and see the benefits, maybe I got older and more “domesticated” but like the feeling and my skin feels pretty nice after I use this. the little grit seems to dissolve or just kind of move out of the way as soon as it has done its job.
The Menaji products feel, smell and work really nice, I like them. I am hooked. Maybe its their very subtle fragrance or just that they feel manly. If you want to check them out, you can find them on their own website at Menaji.com
Just before I published this I found a couple of cool offers they have on their website. These would make a great gift for your favorite men in your life this upcoming holiday season. They’re mostly bundles, one is The Gentlemen’s Kit ($125), another is The Media Pro Kit ($95), you can order them online now.
