Sweet shade park is in Irvine, it’s close the corner of Harvard and Sweet Shade. It’s a fairly new park and I thought it was a lot of fun. So did Claire.
Claire made a new friend that day too and all in all this park turned out to be a winner. We’ll be back regularly.
The park is easy to find because as soon as you turn into sweet Shade, you’ll notice the big blue tubular strucutre. It’s impressive and hard to miss.
Just in case, here’s a map to the location. The address is 15 Sweet Shade (click for map).
The park sits on almost 8 acres of land and features two full size basketball courts, a club-house, a huge area of grass and open space and of course the playground area along with a picnic shaded spot with tables.
You’ll notice that there are two sections to the playground and together they cover ages 18 months to 10 or even older.
The big blue tubular structure I mentioned can be a fun challenge even for the oldest kids. I wanted to play on it.
It seems like a kid could explore that for hours on end. There are spring loaded steps, ropes, climb-through features and more.
I highly recommend you visit this park and let your kids have some fun!
This is a great park to spend a few hours burning off energy. It’s really big and feels safe. It is surrounded by hedges so your kids can’t easily run out into the street.
Here’s the video I did with Claire about this place.
Claire brought her dinosaur along and ended up making friends at the sandbox. The playground features some sandbox structures and a scooper to pick up sand and put it on this table you see below.
If you are going to have a party here, you should know that the picnic area is open without reservations but you can also reserve the community room. And if you’re feeling like setting up a bounce house you can also set that up through the city of Irvine.
The entire park is well kept but I didn’t get a chance to explore the inside of the community room, maybe next time.
On the other side of the park you’ll see the basketball courts and the childrens area and the basketball courts are separated by a big patch of green grass and the club house.
You can see it on the video where Claire is running. That is to the left of the image you see below.
The park has soft ground or sand. It’s easy to keep an eye on your kids and they surely will have fun if they like playing outdoors. I think the structures are modern and really well put together.
