After the last post on email marketing I thought I would post something more helpful. Hopefully you decided to either start your list or decided to keep it around for a little while longer.
Let me show you three free or inexpensive ways to grow your list so you can make money from your blog.
By the way, before we get into it I wanted to tell you that the size of the list doesn’t necessarily equate to the level of your profits.
You can start making money with a small list. I’ve helped bloggers make money with a list of 20 people. You’ll grow it later, but you always have to make $1.00 before you make $10.00 and before you make $100.00 and so on.
The thing that matters is that you start the list and nurture it. Grow it not only in numbers, but in trust level. Here are three proven ways to grow your list.
1 Run Blog Giveaways
I use giveaways to grow my email list and they have worked great so far. You can run them on a monthly basis or weekly and if you are smart and really commit yourself to your blog then you will easily find ways to make these giveaways almost free to run.
An easy way to do giveaways is to write some quality reviews of products on your blog. Promote them and then approach the manufacturers to see if they would give you a product or two so you can host a giveaway. If they say no, ask the next one; really it is that easy.
To see if I’m running any giveaways right now, check out the Giveaways section.
2 Install Optinmonster (WordPress only)
A plugin can make a huge difference on a WordPress site, Optinmonster is one of those plugins that can change your blog completely. I use it on Notagrouch dot com and in pretty much every other project.
You may not even realize that I’m using it here on this blog as well. It’s really awesome and they have managed to increase subscription rates by up to 600%!
Optinmonster works best by capturing the attention of your guests before they leave your site.
Optinmonster can also pop-up on the side, or at the bottom of your pages. It will even show up after each post if you want it to, allowing you to place the right sign-up form at the right time for optimal performance.
And yes it has a widget, but it can do so much more. Check it out here: Optinmonster.
You may see their ads on the blog from time to time, that’s because they’re also a sponsor of Papidaddy AND I will be giving away one of their licenses soon (stay tuned for that).
3 Give People a Free Gift
This one is as old as selling has been around. If you want your visitor to turn into a customer, why don’t you let them have a takeaway. A taste, if you will. Be generous and make it a great gift.
When you offer the free gift, you’ll ask them for either their name and email, or their name and address. It all depends on whether you’re giving them a physical gift or a digital downloadable gift.
Continue to promote the free gift offer while inviting them to try other products. Eventually they’ll decide your product isn’t right for them or they’ll buy it.
You can give away a free sample. You could give away a free download. You could give away a free consultation. Just make it be the best of the best you have to offer.
If giving some of your best stuff away for free didn’t work, companies wouldn’t do it.
