We’ve been taking @WaterClaire to swimming classes since April I believe. Thanks to grandma!
She’s come so far and I’m very proud of her. Even if she doesn’t know it, she’s learned a lot. I think this is the best time for a kid to learn to swim because it is just a game and a matter of fact for them.
It is something that happens and if we turn it into a game then all the better. Let me explain. When we put our kid in the water and begin lessons, the kids (under 3 or 4) have no choice in the matter. They’re going in the water, end of story.
I feel the same way about this as I do about swaddling so as far as I’m concerned, they don’t get a choice.
The part that is your job is to make this time enjoyable and fun so they can actually learn to be in the water.
We did this early on with the bathtub and about 45 or 90 days, we went to the pool for the first time and have been going regularly ever since.
Soem people don’t think knowing how to swim is a big deal, but I consider it essential. Water is life, and life is water. We are born in water and we can die in water.
We came from water and water is all around us, all the time. Rivers, lakes, pools, oceans, streams; natural or man made, there is a body of water nearby where you could drown. Unless you’re in the dessert. then it sucks for you without water but the upside is you won’t drown anytime soon.
Water is as beautiful as it is dangerous and I believe it is foolish to not know how to swim. I learned how to swim after I was seven I think and I almost drowned when I was younger than that (see item #50 here).
Yes, you can probably go 75 years of your life without needing to swim, but your life will be so much better and richer and safer if you do. And it’s a lot of fun!
Here is a short #autoawesome video from Claire’s adventures at Waterworks Aquatics. Also the first #papidaddytv highlight reel.
Highlight reels are sneak peaks at what I have in my video library and plan on making public. Google makes these for me automatically just by using google photos. Pretty amazing.
I already have about 40 of them scheduled to be published on my channel over time. They’re pretty freaking amazing for being done automatically without any effort on my part.
Well, I have added the closing title after I download them and re-upload them, but that’s about it. What do you think?
